I have to admit that when I'm reading a descriptive passage in fiction, unless it is very succinct, I usually just skim it.


Very few authors seem to be able to do description well and clearly.

Many years ago I had a friend who said to me,  "If you want to continue this friendship that's fine with me but you're going to have to be the one who calls and arranges to get together."



And for a while I did that.



And then I actually thought about what I was accepting and doing and stopped calling.

When I was young I used to look at old men who dressed in clothing that I considered out of fashion and I thought, "I'm NEVER going to do that."

Now that I'm old myself I understand.  I just don't give a shit if I'm in fashion or not.

Sometimes I think there are two kinds of people in the world.

Those who don't say very much and those who never shut up.
